Where to see the 2026 solar eclipse
The best place is not simply the nearest point inside the orange line. Choose a location that combines totality with an unobstructed western horizon and realistic travel conditions.

What makes a strong viewing location
Stay comfortably inside the path. Locations very near the edge can lose totality because eclipse limits vary slightly with the lunar terrain.
Check the Sun’s altitude and direction at maximum. Buildings, hills and trees can hide a low Sun.
Use climate patterns for early planning, then check a reliable short-range forecast during the final days.
